Victoria Nottage

Victoria leads the Knowledge Management and Professional Development aspects of the firm. She is a solicitor, family mediator, collaboratively trained practitioner and a coach. Victoria was a professional support lawyer in the family team at Withers LLP for over ten years, where she undertook expert legal research, drafted and curated know how and precedent resources, ran and organised training events and wrote numerous blogs and articles. During this time, Victoria also developed significant expertise in practice development. As well as leading the Knowledge Development aspects of the firm, Victoria also provides specialist client support.

Victoria is passionate about FLiP’s holistic approach to client service, which brings together excellence in legal services with leading mediation and counselling practices.  Victoria has always been committed to helping clients resolve their disputes in a way that acknowledges and seeks to manage the greater impact of family separation, not only in terms of the emotional and mental health of the parties but also how it affects wider members of the family and especially children. With this in mind, Victoria undertook an introductory qualification in counselling in 2008, a qualification which very much continues to inform her approach today. Victoria firmly believes that an integrated approach that has a foundation of legal excellence with an understanding of the emotional impact of family disputes, is very much the future of family law.

At the beginning of her career in family law, Victoria gained wide ranging litigation experience in all aspects of divorce and including experience in two Court of Appeal decisions that continue to be cited today; Morgan v Hill  [2006] EWCA Civ 1602 in relation to the approach to different fathers in Schedule 1 cases, and Martin-Dye v Martin-Dye [2006] EWCA Civ 681 as to the treatment of pensions in payment.
