Nicole Phillips

Nicole is both a family lawyer and a qualified family mediator. She a strong proponent of what mediation can offer clients, namely a humane, swift and cost-effective means of resolving family disputes by reducing conflict.

Nicole is available to conduct mediations either online or in person, for both children and financial issues. She offers both sole and co-mediation. She has a strong interest in alternative dispute resolution and in holistic support, working closely with other professionals such as family consultants and therapists to achieve a successful outcome for her clients.

Having been named as a Rising Star in the family/matrimonial law world for many years by The Legal 500 UK, Nicole was named as a Leading Family Mediator in the 2024 edition with the editorial noting: “Nicole is thoughtful, knowledgeable and focused on getting a fair outcome for families in mediation”. 

Nicole is a member of the influential FSG Language Group which has led the “Language Matters” campaign to improve the language used for separating families. The campaign has received considerable interest across Government, the family law community and the media.

Nicole has a successful mediation practice guiding clients to solutions both in respect of financial matters as well as issues around communication and children that arise after separation or divorce. Some representative matters include:

• mediated for a divorcing couple who wished to reach a financial solution following their divorce. Nicole helped guide them to a mutually acceptable financial outcome. Reaching a solution with mediation allowed the clients to resolve their financial claims quickly and cost efficiently.

• mediated for an ex-couple one of whom wished to relocate abroad with their son. Nicole, as the mediator, helped the clients reach an overall agreement in respect of this issue, which allowed them to put their son first and avoid lengthy and costly court proceedings.

• mediated for a divorcing couple which involved complex financial affairs to include valuable trust assets. Nicole guided the clients to an overall financial agreement notwithstanding the financial complexities that were present in the case.
