Georgie Jakob

Georgie is an associate at Family Law in Partnership. She specialises in private family law matters, including divorce, pre and post-nuptial agreements, financial settlements and children issues. Many of Georgie’s cases involve substantial business interests and trust structures.

Georgie is empathetic and personable with her clients, having had first-hand experience of the emotional impact of divorce and separation. A former client commented of Georgie: “Georgie is experienced at balancing the legal realities of the situation with personal needs.” Georgie focuses on any children of the family and will listen carefully to clients to fully understand their objectives, before determining a course of action.

Georgie’s work often has an international dimension and she is a member of AIJA, the International Association of Young Lawyers, offering a wealth of contacts around the globe.

Georgie’s pro bono work includes supporting both LawWorks and Inspiring Girls.

Georgie’s reported cases include:

• LMZ and AMZ  [2024] EWFC 26 in which she acted for the husband in a case concerning financial provision following a long marriage where virtually all of the wealth had accrued long before the parties had married.
• J v J (Return to Non-Hague Convention Country)  [2021] EWHC 2412 (Fam) in which she advised the father on the return of a child to India following the abduction of the child by the mother.

Georgie joined Family Law in Partnership in May 2021 having qualified as a solicitor in September 2020. Georgie started her career as a family law paralegal and then completed a two-year training contract predominantly in family law.

She has a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Newcastle and is a member of Resolution.
