No Fault Divorce available from 6^th April 2022

The Government has announced that the Divorce, Dissolution and Separation Act 2020 which will allow married couples to divorce without assigning blame – known as “No Fault Divorce” – will come into force on 6th April 2022.

We were hoping that No Fault Divorce would be available for couples to use from autumn 2021 but changes to the court’s online divorce systems have, apparently, delayed the launch date.

At FLiP we wholeheartedly support the introduction of No Fault Divorce as a means of supporting couples to achieve an amicable divorce. We look forward to seeing the Divorce, Dissolution and Separation Act 2020 come into force on 6^th April 2022.
