Gillian advised the wife in the case of JL v SL (No 1) [2014] EWHC 3658 (Fam) which was an appeal by a wife in relation to the treatment of her inherited assets and its impact on spousal periodic payments. In allowing the appeal by the wife, the appeal court judge Mostyn J gave guidance about how the courts should view inherited wealth in the context of the wider family assets.
