Gillian Bishop: A Law Care Champion

Family Law in Partnership consultant Gillian Bishop has been appointed a Champion at Law Care.

Law Care is an independent charity which offers information, training and emotional support to the legal community in both the United Kingdom and Ireland.

Gillian’s appointment as a Champion will give her the chance to be involved in the conversation about wellbeing in the profession and allow her to promote family law supervision.

Gillian comments: “Having been in the legal profession for 40 years I recognise, more than ever, the need for lawyers to ensure their mental and physical wellbeing is properly attended to. We cannot help others if we do not first look after ourselves and our employees. I have long admired the work of Law Care in this regard and I am delighted to be able to contribute in a small way to the very important work they do in the field of mental wellbeing.”

Law Care have just launched a new research study – Life in the Law –  focusing on collecting data to the explore the impact of work culture and working practices on the wellbeing of legal professionals. The results of the Life in the Law research study will form the basis of an academic paper with a view to understanding the issues that affect mental health and wellbeing. This in turn will ultimately improve the support available for legal professionals.
