FLiP Attend IAFL Asia Pacific Chapter Meeting for International Family Lawyers

FLiP Directors and international family law specialists, Elizabeth Hicks and Charlotte Symes, are attending the IAFL Asia Pacific Chapter Meeting and Symposium in Brisbane, Australia.

The IAFL is a worldwide association of practising lawyers who are recognised by their peers as the most experienced and skilled family law specialists in their respective countries.

Charlotte Symes is an experienced family solicitor, accredited mediator and collaborative practitioner. She deals with complex financial issues arising from divorce and separation and supports parents in relation to arrangements for their children. Her work has a strong international dimension. She speaks French and has particular expertise in advising on matters with a French element. As a member of the Franco-British Lawyers Society she regularly attends the annual French family lawyers conference in Paris, the États Généraux.

Elizabeth Hicks specialises in all areas of family law and has a particular focus in advising HNW and UHNW individuals on complex cross jurisdictional issues of family, matrimonial and trusts law. As a trained collaborative lawyer, Elizabeth is experienced in using the collaborative process to resolve family law matters. She often prepares Pre and Post Marital Agreements using the collaborative process including those agreements which have an international aspect.

At FLiP, we regularly advise on complex issues arising from international divorce. This can range from anything such as jurisdiction disputes, where more than one country may deal with a divorce and each person prefers a different jurisdiction, to advising on financial provision following a foreign divorce where the financial provision was inadequate. Our lawyers draw on their specialist knowledge, language skills and first class, worldwide contacts to advise a wide range of clients.

Both Elizabeth Hicks and FLiP Director David Allison are members of the IAFL and, as a firm, this offers access to the IAFL’s global network. It means that we can get in touch with a recommended family lawyer in the required country as quickly as needed.
