Family Mediation Voucher Scheme Extended From 1st April 2022
The Ministry of Justice has confirmed that it will continue to fund the Family Mediation Voucher Scheme from 1st April 2022. The scheme was introduced in March 2021 and continues to offer £500 towards the costs of family mediation for eligible cases. Extending the Family Mediation Voucher Scheme means that families receive valuable financial support to access mediation which offers a collaborative and less confrontational approach to agreeing issues arising on divorce or separation. Encouraging the use of family mediation by couples keeps them away from the family courts encouraging couples to find solutions to relationship issues away from the courts rather than relying on a judge to make a decision.
This move to encourage out of court dispute resolution was discussed in the landmark event ‘Taking the fight out of family separation: Finding safe and supportive solutions for all’ which FLiP co-sponsored on Wednesday 23rd March.
