Good Divorce Week: Managing Conflict and Understanding
Our fourth video for Good Divorce Week features James Pirrie. James highlights the following Resolution Code of Practice:
- Reduce or manage any conflict and confrontation; for example, by not using inflammatory language
James explains that people going through separation or divorce often feel anxious and judged. By managing conflict, there is an opportunity for deep hurt to settle, understanding to emerge and constructive planning to take place.
At Family Law in Partnership, we support people to navigate these challenges and make thoughtful decisions for their family’s future. This may include involving other professionals, such as therapists or financial planners, to help people step back, see the bigger picture and feel confident that their choices are right for their family.
James is a solicitor, acted in Miller-McFarlane that set the frame for the current law on finances, designed Resolution’s round table protocol, introduced Collaborative practice into Europe, has practiced as a mediator (interest based/ commercial- hybrid model/ integrative/ child inclusive) since the late 80s, is an arbitrator, lawyer and single solicitor practitioner, and he is still spending most of his waking hours planning for clients’ better ways out of the woods to the next chapter in their lives.
