Good Divorce Week: Putting Children’s Interests First
As Good Divorce week comes to an end our final video features Marcia Drummond. Marcia highlights the following Resolution Code of Practice:
- Support and encourage families to put the best interests of any children first
Marcia explains that when parents separate, disagreements over care arrangements, schooling and holidays are common. Whilst court proceedings can resolve disputes, they are often lengthy, expensive and stressful, which can increase tension between parents.
At Family Law in Partnership (FLiP), we support families in a child-focused way and aim to preserve the relationship between parents if possible. Many parents find our child-inclusive mediation service, which gives children a neutral space to express their thoughts, feelings and wishes, helps them to put aside their differences and make better decisions for their children.
Whatever the issue, the focus is on finding solutions rather than dwelling on problems, helping parents make constructive choices while maintaining a positive ongoing relationship.
Marcia is an Associate and Chartered Legal Executive (FCILEx) Lawyer. Marcia’s work includes advising on contentious and non-contentious divorce and civil partnership dissolution proceedings together with a range of private children law matters including contact disputes for both married and unmarried parents. Marcia has a particular interest in, and experience of, enforcement of financial proceedings and she is very experienced in advising on maintenance variation matters.
