Parenting After Parting

When parents separate, it’s more important than ever to parent together. We know that co-parenting can be hard, particularly when you are going through divorce and separation. Our Parenting After Parting workshops are designed to help you through the challenges you may face.

There are crucial things we should do (and should avoid doing) if we are to get our children through family breakdown in good shape. Issues such as housing, finance, maintenance and so on become so much easier to resolve when there is an early focus on the needs of the children. However, with so many things going on it is hardly surprising that too often the needs of the children are managed less well than they could be.

As part of our well-being hub and family support services, we run Parenting After Parting workshops which focus on helping you to help your children through divorce and separation. The workshops cover what to say to children about separation, how children can be affected when parents split up, how to help children to manage grief and loss constructively and how to establish a parenting relationship with your ex-partner.

The workshops are run in groups of around ten parents by our Head of Mediation Dominic Raeside (also a qualified family therapist) together with a parenting specialist from The Parent Practice. Discussions are entirely confidential. Those attending can be as involved in the session as they like. Some prefer to sit in the background whilst others relish the opportunity of hearing from those in similar situations – and more particularly, from those in the mirror situation.

The Parenting After Parting workshops are held at our offices in Central London.

Thought needs to be given as to whether to attend the workshop with the children’s other parent – most parents choose to attend separately but this needn’t always be the case. This can be discussed by making contact with our mediation coordinator, Wendy Hoare who can put you in touch with our presenters.

There is a charge of £180 (including VAT) to attend the Parenting After Parting workshops. Further information and a link to the booking form can be found here. Alternatively, please contact Wendy Hoare of FLiP for further information including workshop dates and availability.

N.B During the current Coronavirus pandemic

Parenting after Parting workshops are being delivered interactively, online, in three 90 minute workshops at a reduced price of £150 (including VAT).
