Our People

Gillian Bishop

Gillian

Gillian is a founding partner of Family Law In Partnership, setting it up in 1995 to provide a client focussed service. As an experienced Family Lawyer, Gillian wanted to create a family law firm that served clients who desired an holistic approach to their divorce. Gillian’s aim is to keep the family unit as amicably cohesive as possible.

Trained as a mediator and collaborative lawyer, Gillian offers clients a range of dispute resolution options - traditional, mediation and collaborative law - to best meet the needs of the individual clients.

Gillian is interested in the client as a person.  Her style is clear-sighted and pragmatic.

“She just looked after me … I knew she was focusing on me and my family’s best interests.”

Gillian is recognised by her peers as a leader in positive change for family law in England. In the 2009 Chambers Directory Gillian was described as “totally open and reliable, she has the commercial sense to see the long term implications of what she is doing.”  and "she can get matters settled without putting noses out of joint."

In the 2010 Chambers Directory Gillian is described as "a leading light in the field of collaborative law and a guiding influence during difficult negotiations."

In summer 2010 Gillian appeared in the Spear's Wealth Management index of the top 25 family law solicitors in England.

For 21 years Gillian has pioneered the essential skills training for family lawyers and this remains a passion. She is a member of Family Mediators Association and is on the Resolution training faculty for collaborative lawyers. Gillian is the author of "A Client's Guide to Collaborative Divorce - putting your family first" (2010).

Gillian’s leisure pursuits include walking, cooking, choral singing and supporting Liverpool Football Club.
