On 26th January, Christina McGhee returns for the culmination of over 14 months work master-minding Resolution’s Parenting after Parting initiative. It aims to create a national network of providers offering practical advice to parents in the early stages of separation seeking to ensure better transitions for children through the crisis of separation. Its booklet can be downloaded for free from (http://www.resolution.org.uk/editorial.asp?page_id=112 ) Christina will be offering training to the first wave of workshop providers and then touring the launch sites to provide orientation and insight for lawyers with James and Ruth attending many of the launches:
Christina starred in Channel 4’s “How to divorce without screwing up your kids” (see for example http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2006/jan/28/familyandrelationships.family1 ) and delivered a UK training, co-sponsored by FLIP in 2006. However, the need to achieve a cultural change to make these workshops 'as obvious as NCT classes' required the backing of national organisation, Resolution and Ruth and James, in particular have committed many hours to promoting the success of the project in particular since it went live in December 2007. FLIP fully supports the initiative which offers parents insight and choices to significantly improve the chances of good transitions for the family as a whole. |
